As part of our ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, Mahe Shipping Company Ltd donated SCR50,000 to the Seychelles Pet Haven Society to support essential upgrades to their animal shelter. The donation was formally handed over during a small ceremony held on Friday, 23rd May 2025, reinforcing our commitment to sustainable and meaningful local initiatives aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3.
During the event, our Managing director, Ms. Angelic Appoo, emphasized the importance of supporting community-driven projects that contribute to animal welfare and overall societal well-being. She noted that this marks the first time our company has partnered with the Seychelles Pet Haven Society. In previous years, we have supported the Seychelles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA), and this year, we chose to extend our support to another vital organisation in the same field.
Ms. Myriam Hoareau, founder of the Seychelles Pet Haven Society, gratefully received the donation on behalf of the organization. She expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing the timing of the support as “crucial” given the many ongoing needs of the shelter. She shared that the funds will be used to address several pressing requirements, including the construction of more kennels, the establishment of proper quarantine facilities, and the creation of a small on-site clinic to care for the animals.
Currently home to nearly 200 dogs, the shelter is working tirelessly to improve its infrastructure and provide a safe, comfortable environment for its animals. Part of the donation will also go towards covering existing kennels to shield the animals from the harsh sun, contributing to their overall well-being.
At Mahe Shipping, we remain deeply committed to making a positive difference in the communities we serve. We are proud to support the incredible work of the Seychelles Pet Haven Society and look forward to seeing the impact of this contribution in the months ahead.
Together, we can build a more compassionate future, one paw at a time.
